Manolis Glezos issued a call to all intellectuals to assist the struggle of
the 300 hunger strikers. In a message of solidarity with the 300 immigrant
workers who are undergoing their 27th day of hunger strike, he called upon
the Government to immediately resolve the problems of immigrant workers who
are offering their lives, the deaths of their lives for the right to live.
He called upon the Government and policy makers to meet the immediate
demands of the 300 hunger strikers, and for the urgent mapping out of an
immigration policy that respects human rights, and which takes global
imbalances into account, – appealing also to the Party of the European
Left,through the Women’s Network delegation, MEP Nikos Xountis, and
the Vice
President of the Maite Mola Party.
Both the delegation – which included, amongst others, Kristina Simon (United
Left of Spain), Laurence Cohen (French Communist Party), Thivit Merset (MP
Catalonia, Catalan United Left), Ilde Gkrammel (Communist Party of Austria)
and 37 MEPs, as well as 27 parties that make up the Party of the European
Left, – stated that now is not just the time for solidarity but also the
time of struggle. They further stated that they will be at the side of the
hunger strikers until their vindication.
